Lincoln's poem wins Bushfire Poetry Competition

Lincoln has been judged the winner of Kids News Bushfire Poetry Competition, in the junior student category, for his poem “Sunrise on a Hill”.

Judge Jackie French said of Lincoln's poem, “A poet’s job is to see the world beyond the cliche. This simple but deeply moving poem is written not just with beauty and clarity but the searing insight of a poetic observer, who has found new words to describe an old terror. A wonderful work.”

Lincoln's prize for winning this competition is his poem will be included in the book called Fighting Spirit, which HarperCollins is publishing in partnership with NewsCorp and the National Bushfire Recovery Agency.
