Our CPS Parliament is a great way to develop leadership in our senior students, as well as involve all students from K - 6 in democratic processes and decision making within the school. The School Parliament fosters cooperation, decision making and initiative amongst all through authentic opportunities for student leadership. At Cobargo Public School we pride ourselves in enabling student voice and student involvement in decision making about things that impact the education and environment in which students learn.
There are generally 3 Parliament sessions each term, chaired by our School Captains in the roles of the Speaker of the House and the Prime Minister, where students can submit motions to be discussed, debated and voted on. The motions that are passed then are presented to the Senate (the teaching staff,) who pass, reject or amend the motions. All motions are then presented back to the student body at the next whole school assembly.
